The Kenwood Drive-In opened July
31, 1949, featuring the movie El
Paso. Construction cost $100,000.
At 71 ft. high and 72 ft. wide,
the screen was billed as the
biggest in the south and could
withstand 100 mph winds. It was
Louisville’s last remaining
drive-in when it closed in 2009
after 60 years. The original
marquee was restored in 2013.
