America250KY County Committees
The core of the America250KY commemoration rests with the county committees. These committees are responsible for planning and organizing events, projects, and initiatives at the county level. They act as the local link to the statewide commemorative programming, highlighting the rich history of both our state and local communities. Additionally, they aim to encourage the involvement of various local organizations and groups in the creation of America250KY events and resources.
We encourage county committees to include members with diverse perspectives and skills. By involving representatives from various sectors—such as government, cultural heritage institutions, regional American Indian tribes, non-profits, tourism agencies, civic organizations, and community groups—you can ensure that America250KY events reach a broad audience. The America250KY team is available to consult with your committee regarding organizational matters and programming suggestions.
We request that each county establish a single official committee reflecting a cross-section of the community. This committee can be officially recognized as the primary body coordinating local America250KY commemoration activities through a resolution passed by the county commissioners. A straightforward resolution on county letterhead, stating the formation of the committee and its alignment with the statewide America250KY mission, can serve as the official designation for the group. Official county committees should also complete a contact form that includes membership details and designates a contact person to act as a liaison with the statewide America250KY leadership.
