KHS Harmful Content Statement
In exploring the Kentucky Historical Society’s online collections, you may encounter language or images that are harmful or offensive. KHS collects, preserves, and provides access to materials from different periods and cultures. These materials document the views of their creator and the period when they were created. As a result, some content demonstrates racist and offensive views that do not reflect the values of the Kentucky Historical Society.
While we do not change the original content of materials, we regularly review descriptions and other information that is not generated by the original creator. We also review records to help ensure patrons are aware of potentially harmful content and language in our collections. If you find descriptions or content containing harmful language or images that you think KHS should review, please contact us at khsrefdesk@ky.gov.
