Give

Every Dollar Counts

Back in 1836, a group of forward-thinking citizens publicly acknowledged history’s power by founding the Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) and charging it with protecting the Commonwealth’s legacy. Since then KHS staff, members, and partners have worked non-stop to preserve Kentucky’s treasures and to empower Kentuckians by helping them understand what a vital role our state has played in shaping the nation.

We invite you to join us in this mission. One easy way to participate is through a tax-deductible gift to the Kentucky Historical Society Foundation. Your gift will help KHS make our collections accessible to the public, teach Kentucky students important critical thinking skills by engaging them in the historical process, raise awareness of local history resources throughout the commonwealth, preserve our heritage – and demonstrate what it means to be a Kentuckian.

Ways to Give

Fund for KHS

Your annual gift to the KHS Foundation is a yearly investment in Kentucky. Gifts directly benefit our mission, allowing us to help prepare Kentuckians for the future through knowledge of the past. Make your contribution to the Fund for KHS today: Online, by mail to Kentucky Historical Society Foundation, PO Box 6856 Frankfort KY 40602, or by calling 502-782-8130.

*These recognitions are provided at your request at the time you make your gift. The expenses to produce and display the commemorative item are deducted from the tax-deductible portion of your gift.

Named Spaces

A number of spaces in the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History are available for naming opportunities for major gift donors. Current named spaces include the Hilary J. Boone Commonwealth Hall, Keeneland Changing Exhibits Gallery, Brown-Forman Room, Joan Cralle-Day Garden, Stewart Home & School 1792 Store, James C. and Freda C. Klotter Education Suite and Martin F. Schmidt Library.

Sponsor

Your company or organization can visibly partner with KHS on a wide range of statewide special events, family activities and other public programs. Sponsorship opportunities are available throughout the year.

Leave a Legacy

Think of us when you make your estate plan. A bequest is the simplest way to leave a legacy gift and has no impact on your current income. Through a simple designation in your will or trust, you can leave behind such gifts as specific sums or assets, a percentage of your estate or trust, or the remainder of your estate while first taking care of your loved ones. You can create a bequest simply by asking your attorney to add a paragraph to your will in the form of a codicil. Your estate will receive an estate tax charitable deduction for the value of your bequest.

Other planned gift opportunities, including those that provide present income for you and your family, also are available.
