Kentucky Military Treasures

Selections from the Kentucky Historical Society Collections

Kentuckians have defended the United States and its ideals for more than 200 years. In “Kentucky Military Treasures: Selections from the Kentucky Historical Society Collections,” we tell the stories of Kentuckians who fought – and sometimes lost their lives – in engagements ranging from the War of 1812 to those in Afghanistan and Iraq. Meet these men and women. Learn how they became heroes. Hear their stories in their own words. See the evolution of military hardware, from the 19th century to 20th century automatic rifles.

When you leave, you’ll walk away with a greater appreciation and understanding of the sacrifice Kentuckians have made for their country.
