Katrina Kursell

Museum Educator

Katrina is a museum educator and public historian who’s passionate about making history accessible, engaging, and meaningful for all audiences. She holds a bachelor’s degree in History and a master’s degree in Public History from Northern Kentucky University. Her previous experience comes from the Harriet Beecher Stowe House and the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center. Her work is focused on meeting visitors where they are—whether through inclusive programming, hands-on learning, or rethinking how stories are told in museum spaces.

Her historical areas of study include presidential history (with a special love for John F. Kennedy and the Roosevelts), Appalachian history, and the cultural shifts of the 1960s. She’s especially drawn to the moments where national history becomes personal.

Katrina is a Kentucky Colonel and, outside of her work, can usually be found traveling, trying new coffee shops, exploring local food scenes, watching movies as a proud film buff, or cheering on the Seattle Seahawks. Staff member since 2026.
