Kentucky History Day Celebrates State’s Heritage in Downtown Frankfort
FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 6, 2025) – Celebrate Kentucky’s 233rd anniversary on Saturday, June 7, with a full day of immersive experiences at the WesBanco Kentucky History Day, hosted by the Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) in downtown Frankfort. From live performances and historical reenactments to hands-on family activities and food, there’s something for everyone.
Activities include:
- Live performances, including Native American dance, West African drumming, 19th-century brass band and Latin music and dance;
- Rifle and cannon firing demonstration outside the Kentucky Military History Museum;
- “Henry Clay” live drama performance;
- Bluegrass Instrument Petting Zoo and Kids Zone activities;
- Farmers market featuring Kentucky Proud vendors;
- Kentucky History Awards Breakfast sponsored by Solid Light, Inc;
- Nearly 50 exhibitors showcasing Kentucky’s history, culture and heritage;
- Tintype photography sessions (pre-registration required);
- Food trucks, artisan vendors and military vehicle displays throughout Broadway Street, and more!
“Kentucky History Day is more than just a celebration—it’s a chance for people of all ages to connect with the stories, music, food and traditions that make our commonwealth unique,” said Scott Alvey, executive director of KHS. “We’re proud to bring together partners from across the state to showcase the best of Kentucky’s past and present in one unforgettable day.”
