Grants Available from Kentucky Oral History Commission

Oral History Grants Avaliable

The Kentucky Oral History Commission (KOHC) is accepting grant applications to fund oral history projects, the transcription and indexing of existing oral history interviews and the preservation of existing oral history interviews.

KOHC offers monetary, equipment and training grants to assist amateur and professional oral historians with oral history research projects on topics of particular significance to Kentucky.

These grants are designed to allow people to document and preserve essential stories about Kentucky’s history, and provide support to people, communities and organizations that might not otherwise be able to do these projects.

Grant applications are due by Feb. 27.

KOHC is the only state agency committed to statewide oral history documentation through granting programs and outreach. In fiscal year 2015-2016, KOHC awarded $55,700 to support oral history projects ranging in topic from Bosnian immigrants in Bowling Green to the Kentucky Chili Bun Trail in Eastern Kentucky, public art in Louisville to the African American experience in Hopkinsville.

The Kentucky Historical Society administers and houses KOHC.
