William Shakespeare Caldwell (1821-1874) - William Shakespeare Caldwell was a successful businessman who owned several natural gas companies throughout the Midwest. Caldwell invested in Louisville real estate and owned property in what is now the Shelby Park neighborhood, as well as Bowman Field. He helped create Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in 1874, named after his late wife. Sponsored by Shelby Park Neighborhood Association.

The Caldwell Sisters - Mary Guendaline and Mary Elizabeth Caldwell, daughters of William and Mary Eliza Breckinridge Caldwell, inherited their family’s wealth and continued to donate to Catholic institutions, including the founding of the Catholic University in Washington D.C. Both were married to European royalty & are buried in Cave Hill Cemetery. In memory of Charles E. Rogalinski, Jr.
