Site in valley to east, one of most famous duels in Kentucky because of prominent men involved. John Rowan, later jurist, and US Senator. His second, George M. Bibb, Kentucky Chief Justice, US Senator, Secretary of Treasury. Dr. James Chambers was popular physician. An argument on Jan. 29, 1801, climaxed in duel on Feb. 3. Dr. Chambers was killed in the second round of firing.
