Soldier, Indian fighter, surveyor. In Dunmore's War, 1774. Served under Gen. Daniel Morgan in the War of the Revolution. Cited for bravery, Saratoga. Explored this area, 1780; Q. M. for General Clark, Wabash expedition, 1787; Colonel, Nelson Co. Militia, 1789; Cmdr., Ky. troops, Maumee Campaign, 1790. In 1792, U.S. peace envoy to Ohio Indians; foully murdered by them.
