Union General Don Carlos Buell used the house located a few yards from the road as headquarters during the Battle of Perryville, October 8, 1862. Centrally located, the house was near roads leading to the center left and right of Union lines.
Dedicated October 6, 1962 as part of the 100th anniversary commemoration of the battle.
