For George Robertson, 1790-1874. Born in Ky. In Congress, 1817-21, sponsored organization territory of Arkansas. Ky. Legislature eight years, six as Speaker; promoted the common-school system. Member Ky. Court of Appeals, 1829-34 and 1864-71. Professor of law in the Transylvania University, 1834-57. County was formed from parts of Bracken, Harrison, Mason, Nicholas.
