History Teacher of the Year

History Teacher of the Year

Each year, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History (GLI) honors a history teacher with the National History Teacher Award. The Kentucky Historical Society assists GLI in this effort as coordinator for Kentucky’s History Teacher of the Year Award.

The winner of Kentucky’s History Teacher of the Year Award receives a $1,000 prize, an archive of classroom resources and recognition at KHS’s Annual History Awards. Any full-time educator of grades K-12 who teaches state or American history is eligible.

Recipients of state awards also are finalists for the national award, along with recipients from the District of Columbia, Department of Defense schools and U.S. territories.

Nominate yourself or another outstanding Kentucky teacher for the 2021 award through April 30, 2021.
