Join us to explore two Louisville stories! First, Charles Wilkins Short was a 19th-century naturalist who made clippings that are preserved in collections around the world. One flower he collected in Louisville was used in recent years by a Boston-based scientist to recreate the scent of an extinct plant. Second is the story of the Longest Painting in the World by John Banvard. This painting was the first successful "moving panorama" which he debuted in Louisville before touring the world with it. This portion includes a 12-minute interpretive performance with moving images, music and storytelling. Mick Sullivan is a writer, musician, audio creator, and museum educator in Louisville, Kentucky. He is the Curator of Guest Experience at The Frazier History Museum and former chair of Kids Listen, an international children’s audio education advocacy group.
