Meet with Kentucky's social studies educators, administrators, and professionals from across the state to rejuvenate your teaching strategies and collaborate with others in social studies education.
The KCSS Annual Conference in conjunction with the Kentucky History Education Conference will address the sub-themes of:
- How can I structure a basic inquiry with driving questions, diverse sources, and clear tasks?
- What strategies can I use to foster critical literacy within an inquiry-based lesson or unit?
- How can I effectively integrate information literacy skills into an inquiry lesson or unit?
- What are effective methods for ensuring source accessibility in an inquiry lesson?
- How can I strategically scaffold sources throughout inquiry lessons and units?
- And so much more!
You will leave the conference with strong strategies for delivering instruction that engages students, the best ways to advocate for the most pressing issues of social studies education, and a network of colleagues to support you throughout the year.

Discover how to effectively utilize KET’s educational resources related to the theme of America 250.
KET Classroom Connections: Engaging, Standards-Aligned Resources
Discover how KET’s free digital resources can enrich instruction and empower students across the curriculum. From literacy to civics, U.S. history, and the arts, KET and PBS LearningMedia offer Kentucky educators trusted, standards-aligned tools that make learning meaningful and accessible. This workshop will also highlight resources supporting America’s 250th anniversary, with ready-to-use content that helps educators connect classroom learning to foundational ideas in civics, democracy, and U.S. history. Participants will explore engaging videos, lesson plans, and interactive tools designed to spark inquiry, deepen historical understanding, and foster informed, active citizenship across grade levels.
Telling America’s Stories Through Graphic Novels
Graphic novels are powerful tools for engaging students and bringing a variety of educational topics to life! In this interactive workshop, KET Education will show educators how to incorporate graphic novels into classroom instruction and guide students in creating their own graphic narratives. Participants will explore free KET and PBS LearningMedia resources that support literacy, visual storytelling, and content‑area learning. This session also highlights America 250 connections, helping students explore civic ideals, historical events, and diverse perspectives through creative storytelling.

Afternoon Sessions
Explore the Kentucky Historical Society’s latest exhibit, “Revolution to Statehood,” and walk away with classroom-ready resources alongside a deeper insight into Kentucky’s beginnings! Featuring educational resources shared by Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.
The first 15 educators who register will have their substitute services reimbursed by the Kentucky Historical Society, allowing them to attend on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
