KHS celebrates 100 years of Women's Suffrage

2020 brings us the 100th anniversary of the signing of the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote. KHS hosted the Women Suffrage Centennial and Chorus Initiative of Frankfort on Tuesday, August 18th, as they added the 36th star to a replica of the Ratification Flag. August 18th marked the day 100 years ago when Tennessee ratified the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The flag was displayed in the window of the Kentucky History Center through the end of August. KHS again hosted the group on the steps of the Old State Capitol for a program acknowledging the actual date of the centennial, August 26. For visitors to the Kentucky History Center, we have highlighted objects currently on exhibit related to women's suffrage, and a guide (pictured below) can be picked up at the welcome desk. KHS has offered and will continue to offer programming highlighting this significant milestone. Please visit our events page for more information on upcoming programs.
