KHS a key partner in Frankfort's Heritage Week, May 16 - 22

"Celebrating historic preservation and the rich cultural history of Frankfort & Franklin County, Kentucky through education and advocacy.” In coordination with National Historic Preservation Month (May), Frankfort Heritage Week, May 16 - 22, is a celebration of the rich history and cultural heritage of Frankfort and Franklin County, and an educational opportunity for learning the principles, benefits, economics, and resources of historic preservation.  – all of the things that go into maintaining local charm and legacy, attracting tourists and businesses, and preserving the quality of life in Frankfort and Franklin County. A collaboration of over a dozen prominent community organizations, including the Kentucky Historical Society, Frankfort Heritage Week offers both in-person and virtual events. During Frankfort Heritage Week, KHS is offering a historic scavenger hunt experience on Saturday, May 22, from 10 am - 5 pm. Hosted by the Kentucky Historical Society and sponsored by the Franklin County Trust for Historic Preservation, Capital City Museum, and Frankfort Area Chamber of Commerce participants can in-person, but independently, seek and find with the Historic Downtown Scavenger Hunt! Stop by the History Center at 100 W. Broadway for a packet of historical photos and use the clues to match them to current buildings. Snap a selfie on the spot and once you’ve found the last location, come back to KHS to claim your prize! Bonus points for tagging @KyHistSoc on Facebook and Twitter!
