Kentucky Oral History Commission Grant Applications Close April 4th

The Kentucky Oral History Commission (KOHC), administered by KHS, provides $30,000 in grants each year to support the creation of new oral histories and increase awareness of existing projects. KOHC’s mission is to promote the growth of oral history in the Commonwealth.

Interested in conducting an oral history project? 

  • We offer project grant funds up to $7,500. 
  • We also have technical assistance grants - non-cash awards - providing oral history training, including honing interview skills and equipment management. 

Does your organization have interviews you want to make more accessible? 

  • We offer transcription and indexing grant funds up to $5,000. 
  • We offer presentation grant funds up to $2,500. 

Eligibility 

  • Non-Kentucky residents may apply if their work is related to Kentucky history. 
  • Specific eligibility requirements vary by grant category; please consult the KOHC grants page for additional information.
