Day Camps
Make, play, and investigate history at our signature week-long program for ages 6-12. Participants explore KHS exhibits, meet special guest speakers, collaborate with new friends, create art inspired by history, and engage in hands-on games and activities. With small class sizes, quality supplies, and top-notch teachers, campers will have a great time learning about Kentucky's history.

Ages: 6-12 (rising 1st and 6th graders)
Calling all crafty creators and magnificent makers! In this camp, discover the people, tools, and techniques behind Kentucky's skilled crafting traditions by making your own handmade works of art. We’ll explore traditions such as weaving, bookbinding and printing, folk art, and even garden sculpting! Finish off the week by selling your wares to friends and family at a camp craft fair.

Ages: 6-12 (rising 1st and 6th graders)
Could you survive and thrive in the Kentucky wilds? Join other brave explorers, learn about how Kentucky kids lived in the past, and develop old-fashioned skills we can use today. Discover how to read a compass, sew a seam, and more while learning about great Kentucky explorers of the past. Build self-reliance and survival skills and make your own history at KHS!

Ages: 6-12 (rising 1st and 6th graders)
Put on your hard hats and get ready for a building adventure! Join us as we travel through time by constructing wattle and daub structures like the American Indians, building a classic log cabin, creating and testing bridges for strength, and learning about Kentucky’s renowned architects and innovators who have made positive changes in the Commonwealth.

MAKE WAY FOR THE MIDWAY! Back by popular demand, Fun at the Fair explores Kentucky's fair traditions, games, and history. See how the Great Southern Exposition of 1883 brought the world to Kentucky, create your own midway, and compete for blue ribbon prizes!
Parents are encouraged to join us for the last day of camp to enjoy your camper’s creations.

Girl Scout Workshops
Explore history hands-on and express creativity while earning a badge. KHS partners with Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana and Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road to offer Girl Scouts regularly scheduled badge workshops. These programs cover many themes, including historic crafts, visual arts, performing arts, family history, games, communication, music, STEAM, and more!
