Director of Historical Resources
Sara’s love for history first manifested itself when, as a preschooler, she began asking questions about an abandoned 19th century bank building in her hometown and, a little later, when she pretended she was traveling the Oregon Trail in a covered wagon (her grandmother’s four-poster bed).
As director of Historical Resources, she leads our efforts to proactively collect the objects that tell Kentucky’s story; make KHS collections accessible in many ways to researchers and the public; and work with local organizations throughout the state to connect the dots between our collections and Kentucky history.
Sara brings to KHS experience as a curator, state park manager and director of a historic house. She has held many leadership posts in state, regional and national organizations and is well-grounded in decorative arts, historic interiors, women’s history, historic clothing and pre-Civil War Kentucky history. She holds degrees in folk studies and history, and is a graduate of Developing History Leaders @SHA.
