Beth Caffery Carter

For Beth, a workday doesn’t get any better than when she can combine her love for history with her interest in textiles – whether that involves researching a quilt, cataloging and photographing historic costumes, or even sewing mounts and covers for objects in storage or on display.

Beth works hands-on with objects in our collections to assure their long-term care and preservation; develops standards that assure our collections database has consistent information for each object; and monitors the condition and environments of artifacts in storage and on exhibit.

She holds a Master of Arts degree in history, post-baccalaureate certificate in museum studies, Bachelor of Arts degree in history and has been a Smithsonian Affiliations Visiting Professional.

Staff member since 2012
