Help Make History – Be a KHS Sponsor!

Each year the Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) serves nearly 70,000 tourists, schoolchildren, K-12 teachers, genealogists, scholars, lifelong learners—and any other history enthusiast interested in exploring the Commonwealth’s rich past. Many come to the KHS history campus in Frankfort, where they can immerse themselves in the Kentucky experience at one of our museums located in the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History, the Old State Capitol and the Kentucky Military History Museum at the State Arsenal.

They also come to investigate their family history or to conduct scholarly research in the Martin F. Schmidt Research Library, to participate in our family activities, or to experience one of the many other history-focused programs or events we conduct throughout the year.

Most of our visitors are well-educated and from the “Golden Triangle” region (Lexington to Louisville to Northern Kentucky). By aligning your organization with the Kentucky Historical Society as a sponsor, you will receive wide exposure to these people, who tend to spend 60 percent more on average than other leisure travelers, according to the Cultural and Heritage Traveler Report (Mandala Research, 2013).

In addition KHS staff travel throughout the state to promote the power of history through a variety of programming and services, each targeting a specific group—from preschoolers and their families to community organizations and senior citizens. This simultaneously opens the doors to a broad range of opportunities for sponsors looking to appeal to a particular audience segment.

KHS has several financial (cash) and in-kind (goods or services) sponsorship opportunities available for the 2018/19 fiscal year (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019). See below for current opportunities.

In accordance with KRS 45A.097(4) these sponsorship opportunities are posted on the KHS website for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days. These sponsorship opportunities may also be linked to other Commonwealth websites and KHS advertising inventory, as practicable, and awareness will be raised through other media, such as press releases and social media as practicable.

Each sponsorship opportunity includes specific commitments, as described herein.

Interested parties must reply with a written proposal that addresses the two factors in the paragraph that follows. Advertising shall be mutually agreed upon between the responder and the Kentucky Historical Society.

An award of sponsorship shall not constitute an official endorsement of a particular company by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Potential sponsors and opportunities will be evaluated to determine the “best value” for the Commonwealth of Kentucky as described in KRS 45A.070(3) as follows: 1) Financial value to the Kentucky Historical Society and may be monetary, trade or in-kind; and 2) Enhancement of the Kentucky Historical Society guest experience.
