Victorian Jewelry

Family Workshop: It may seem unusual to us, but people in the 1800s sometimes used hair to make jewelry. We will learn about the jewelry making techniques and styles of the Victorian age and see jewelry in KHS’ collections to inspire our own designs. Then, we will create a pendant called a “lovers eye” to keep or give away—and practice using hair (from a sheep) to make a wearable artifact.

Cost:  $10 per family (parent and up to two children). $5 for each additional participant. Members will receive $5 off the total registration cost. Includes museum admission.

Instructor: Jody Jaques, artist and educator

Activities are best for ages 5-12, but all ages are welcome.

No walk-ins, please. Registration required. Call 502-782-8118 or email KHSeducation@ky.gov. Payment is due the day of the class. Check in at the front desk.

(Class subject to cancellation based on number of registrants.)
