Piecing together History: Family Bible Records

Bible records are great sources for genealogical information. Throughout this daylong session, you can see original Bible records from the KHS collections (we have one of the largest family Bible collections in the state), explore other holdings and help us research the families listed in them.

If you have a family Bible that contains family/genealogy information, please consider bringing it along to have digitized! We’ll share the scanned images with researchers through our Digital Collections Catalog.

(KHS collections include more than 200 original family Bible records in archival storage with some images online at kyhistory.com; an 11-volume set of photocopied records contributed by past library patrons; additional copies of family Bible records in our surname vertical files and within local published histories; transcribed Bible records in print editions of Kentucky Ancestors and The Register.)

This event is Free for KHS members OR part of the KHS’ general admission. No registration necessary. For more information: 502-564-1792, ext. 4460 or khsrefdesk@ky.gov
