Beginner’s Book Binding Art

Lifelong Learning: Before mass production, artisans made books one page at a time and stitched them together by hand before encasing them in a uniquely fitted cover. Explore bookbinding history by looking at examples in the KHS collections, create your own unique journal that puts a modern twist on traditional hardcover Coptic stitch book and try out our mini clamshell printing press.

For ages 18+, but ages 13-17 are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Instructor: Julie Sawnor, KHS museum educator

Cost: $20 per participant; $15 for members

Registration is required no later than Jan. 9. Space is limited. Call 502-782-8118 or email KHSeducation@ky.gov

Payment is due the day of the workshop. Workshops begin by checking in at the front desk.
