Churchill Weavers

Intern Favorites

“I love seeing the wide spectrum of colors they could produce!”

We asked our summer interns, Aja and Abbigail, working on the Churchill Weavers collection about their favorite pieces in the fabric archive. This is what they said.

Aja, cataloging intern:

“Some of my favorite pieces from Churchill Weavers are the color blankets. These are essentially samples of weaving in a variety of colors so the weavers could experiment with different combinations. I love seeing the wide spectrum of colors they could produce!”

"I love the 1950s and this blanket is evocative of the poodle skirts that teenage girls enjoyed wearing!”

Abbigail, photography intern:

“My favorite article this summer was a baby blanket with a poodle appliqué.  I love the 1950s and this blanket is evocative of the poodle skirts that teenage girls enjoyed wearing!”
