Born into slavery, Dennis and Diademia Doram became prominent citizens of Danville, Kentucky. Dennis Doram succeeded in several enterprises, including a rope factory and hemp business. By the 1840s, the Dorams had several thousand dollars in the bank and owned hundreds of acres of land.

Visit the Kentucky Historical Society History Campus

Located in downtown Frankfort, Ky., the Kentucky Historical Society history campus includes the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History, the Old State Capitol and the Kentucky Military History Museum.

Hours

Beginning Saturday, March 9, 2013, the KHS history campus will resume its regular public hours of operation.


Wednesday: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Thursday: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Youth (6-18): $2
Children (5 and under): FREE
KHS members: FREE
Veterans: $3
AAA members: $3
Martin F. Schmidt Research Library: FREE 




Please note:

All visitors must check in at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky history for tours of the Old State Capitol.
