– The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) will participate in Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day on Saturday, Sept. 29, where museums across the country will open for free to those possessing a Museum Day ticket. Visit www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday
The KHS history campus is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. One Smithsonian Museum Day ticket will be accepted per household for up to two people. Visitors can explore the exhibits “A Kentucky Journey,” “Toyota Kentucky Hall of Governors” and “Civil War: My Brother, My Enemy” at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History and tour the Old State Capitol. While renovations to the exterior of the Old State Capitol are still underway, tours of the interior will begin at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History each Saturday at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. The Kentucky Military History Museum, which is also part of the KHS history campus, is currently closed for renovations and will reopen in spring of 2013.
