KHS to Host Food for Thought: ‘The Kentucky Fresh Cookbook’ with Maggie GreenFRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 30, 2012) — The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) will host a “Food for Thought” luncheon program, “The Kentucky Fresh Cookbook,” at noon Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in downtown Frankfort.
Native Kentuckian Maggie Green guides both aspiring and experienced cooks through the rich variety of Kentucky ingredients and traditions that make up Kentucky’s most well-known culinary dishes. “The Kentucky Fresh Cookbook” demonstrates that any act of cooking done with love and care can transform the simplest ingredients into a memorable meal. Green is a culinary professional, registered dietitian and owner of The Green Apron Company. A book signing will immediately follow the program.
The menu for the luncheon features silver-dollar corn cakes with pumpkin butter, summer garden salad, grilled lemon-and-thyme chicken, caramelized Brussels sprouts, roasted potatoes, rolls, peanut butter pie and iced tea or coffee.
Tickets to the Food for Thought luncheon are $18 for KHS members and $25 for other patrons. To make a reservation, contact Julia Curry at 502-564-1792, ext. 4414. Reservations are required by Friday, Sept. 14.
