Field trips for groups of 10 or more are available year-round. We require that trips be scheduled at least two weeks in advance and accept reservations on a first-come basis. Note: March, April and May are the busiest months of the year. Make your reservations as early as possible.
Schedule your trip using the field trip reservation form (PDF) (please complete both sides).

There is no place to purchase food at the Kentucky Historical Society.
Your group may eat a brown-bag lunch in the Cralle-Day Garden behind the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History or on the Old State Capitol lawn.
If the weather does not permit an outdoor lunch, we will work to find a place inside.

Bus Drop-Off and Parking Information
Buses must drop off school groups at the bus pull off on Ann Street. Bus parking is at the end of Broadway at Riverview Park. Please print this PDF map and give it to your bus driver(s).
Anyone driving a personal vehicle may park in the lot on the corner of Broadway and Ann Street across from the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.
Your Field Trip Begins
All visits begin at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History. Please enter by ringing the doorbell to enter the Ann Street entrance (the bus drop-off point). A museum staff member will welcome your group.
Restrooms are on the first floor of the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History, just inside the building’s side entrance off Ann Street. This is the same entrance your group will use when you arrive.
Restrooms at the Old State Capitol and at the Kentucky Military History Museum do not accommodate large groups of people. Plan to use the restroom at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.
It is likely that your group will be sharing the museum with other groups. These rules are intended to help make everyone’s visit a pleasant one:
- Use indoor voices and refrain from running indoors.
- Do not touch or handle objects in the exhibitions. The dirt and oil from your hands can cause permanent damage to the historical artifacts we are preserving.
- Do not take flash photography. Your group may take photographs during self-guided tours as long as the photos are for personal, noncommercial use. Photography is not allowed on guided tours.
