Portraits of Dennis and Diademia Doram Jr., oil on canvas by Patrick Henry Davenport, 1839
Born into slavery, Dennis and Diademia Doram became prominent citizens of Danville, Kentucky. Dennis Doram succeeded in several enterprises, including a rope factory and hemp business. By the 1840s, the Dorams had several thousand dollars in the bank and owned hundreds of acres of land.
