Elizabeth Roseberry Mitchell of Lewis County, Ky., decorated this quilt with paper caskets that bear the names of family members. This extraordinary quilt illustrates nineteenth-century mourning customs and period American folk art. Donated by Mrs. Nina Mitchell Biggs.

Join Ron Pen, associage professor of music and director of the John Jacob Niles Center for American Music and the Appalachian Studies Program at the Univeristy of Kentucky, as he discusses one of our nation's most influential musicians. A book signing will immediatley follow the program.
Reservations required by November 11. $18 for KHS members and $23 for all other patrons.
